Getting Ready to Move

So, we'll be moving on Tuesday. I'm excited. Mark is excited. No one knows if Emma's excited, but she should be! She's going to have oodles more room to run around and get into trouble. :-) I hope she transitions to the new house well. Lately she's been giving me all sorts of attitude, and let me tell you, it is quite annoying. If this is a preview of what her "terrible twos" are going to be like, lord help us all! haha I honestly just don't know what her issue is. One day she'll eat like a champ, the next day she doesn't want to eat or drink much of anything and throws a fit over it. One minute she'll be playing nicely in her exersaucer and literally 10 seconds later she's pitching a fit for no reason (well, no known reason). And I really, truely don't know what is bothering her. I guess it's just normal "I want what I want, when I want it", but geezie petes! :-P Maybe it's a stage. Maybe she'll outgrow it. Maybe I'll outgrow it. hahaha Ah, motherhood....

1st Shiner...

Well, it's official. Mark and I are terrible parents. Our daughter has her first shiner. Yes, folks, Emma has a black eye. :-( So, this is how it happened. Emma, in her infinite rush to grow up, has perfected getting up on her knees, and is now also quite adept at standing up. Well, on Saturday afternoon I was sitting on the couch reading a magazine and Mark was sitting with Em in the bay window area of our living room. Emma had managed to crawl her way over to the windowsills and pulled herself up to her knees and was holding onto two of the windowsills. Then, she saw one of her chewy toys on the floor and went to grab it with her left hand. She couldn't reach it, so she bent down further and in doing so lost her grip with her right hand and fell into the windowsill. And oh my goodness did she cry! I felt so horrible! How could we have let her fall into the sill?! Her poor little cheekbone and eye turned black and blue immediately. She wouldn't let us keep any ice on it, but the swelling managed to go down on it's own, and it looks much, much better today. And I feel better today than I did on Saturday. I know she's learning how to balance and to do all sorts of new things now and she's definitely gonna have a few bumps and bruises on the way. But still...I hate when it happens. But, on a happier note, she is very, VERY good at pulling herself up to a standing position now. However, she can't seem to figure out how to get back down, no matter how many times I show her. hehehe She'll learn....

Ooooohhhh Boy......

Oh dear. We are in BIG trouble. I cannot believe how grown up my little girl is getting; too grown up, too fast. She needs to slooooooooow down! So, for the past couple of days she has been getting up on her hands and knees in her crib and then getting over to the side rail and grabbing onto the bars. THEN, once she got ahold of the bars, Miss Thang decided to get to a kneeling up position. Of course, she was excited that she had done that, but then quickly got mad because she couldn't get back down. NOW this morning, she did all that (sans getting mad because I was there with her), and then all of a sudden she got one foot under her...then the other foot...and BAM! she was standing up!!! She was quite proud of herself, too. So, now we are in big trouble. I am so afraid she's going to hoist herself out of that crib and go tumbling to the ground, but Mark doesn't think she has the arm strength to do that just yet. I sure hope so...that would be terrible! Especially since in the new house we have hardwood floors and that would NOT be good. Well, I guess it won't be long til Miss Thang decides she wants to get up and walk. :-( I'm proud of her, but I'm also very sad! My little baby girl is growing up so fast!! I just want her to stay little forever so I can snuggle her, and take care of her, and keep her safe all the time. Is that too much to ask? :-P

Just My Luck...

So, wouldn't it be just my luck that as soon as I go out and buy 50 jars of baby food, Captain Insano Baby decides she doesn't really want baby food anymore, but would much rather have big people food. Sheesh! So, now it's off to the market to get eggs, pancake mix, fruits and veggies, so Miss Thing can try some new stuff. Joy oh joy...haha My little baby girl is growing up MUCH too fast and I'm not sure I'm ready for it!

Long Time, No Post...

Well, I know I haven't posted any news on Captain Insano Baby lately, but there has been a ton of stuff going on with the Taylor family these past few weeks. We have sold our townhouse and bought a new one so those of you who have ever had the experience know just how much work it is! Also, it's been the final weeks of my FCC classes and my teaching at the Center, so that has just been hectic, too. But, in these past few weeks Emma has made so much progress!! She's started to try finger foods and is getting VERY good at picking up little Gerber Fruit/Veggie Puffs (little stars of puffed up grains) and getting them into her mouth. It's so hilarious to watch her do it because for one thing she is extremely girly about it. She patiently picks the puff up between her thumb and index finger, with all the others spread out, and then daintily places it in her mouth. However, the series of facial expressions that come next are anything but girly! hehehe Another giant milestone has come our way as well. Miss Emma has recently turned into Commando Baby! A couple of weeks ago when she was at home with Daddy she really, REALLY wanted to get to her lotion bottle which was halfway across the room. So, she flipped over superfast, got up on her little hands and knees, and proceeded to scoot herself all the way over to the lotion bottle. Now, you can't take your eyes off of her at ALL when you put her on the floor because if there's something she wants (and usually it's something she shouldn't have) then she will most certainly get herself over to it. So, that's about all that's going on in Emma's World as of this date, and hopefully I'll get some more pictures up here soon.
